When I was young ...well dirt was a new idea...
originally I was an Art student who got woefully sidetracked by life.
A few years ago an unexpected illness made me rethink my priorities.
I am no longer a slave to a job.
Creation is a special thing and though life is fleeting it is a way to leave your mark, if only on a few hearts.
While ill I discovered InuYasha...laying in a hospital bed....gorked on Dilaudid...I watched the anime on adult swim every night and in a drugged haze tried to figure out what was going on.
I continued watching as I recovered at home,
You could say that Takahashi Rumiko's characters gave me something to hang on to at a very low and dark point in my life...I have always been compelled to stay to the end of a story and find out how it ends....well except for a horrible movie called "Star Crash" where I was so embarrassed to be watching something so bad I was afraid someone I knew would see me trying to sneak out of the theatre...But thats another story.
Anyway...I rather fell in love with the story of InuYasha and out of that love was born a tiny bit of an obesssion. Now obessesions are not necessarily a bad thing when they give you enjoyment and hurt no one else in the process. After reading the manga and watching the anime to its conclusion my obesssion has manifested itself in pictures. Remember when I said I was an art student sidetracked by life? Well I got REALLY sidetracked and produced nearly nothing for Twenty years...thats right ..longer than some of you have been around.
...But before it was too late..i wised up and decided not to sacrifice my creativity for the mundane.
Now i draw pictures... and write...and sit on my porch and watch the squirrels.
I am working on the final draft of a novel I have written ( some of my gallery pics are sketches of my original characters) I post my salutes to Ms Takahashi here...
...and I am happy.
And that is all I can ask for any of you who read this...
Be true to yourself
And be happy.
